Snapbox

Snapbox is a tiny 'deli' near work and they do a wonderful pasta salad.

I do add some bits to it though.

Coffee Me

What a wonderful surprise - waiting for a river taxi and there was a coffee shop on the side.

Very nice - whilst waiting for the next one.

There was a tiny spot inside if you needed air-conditioning and a restaurant next door - I chose to watch the river taxi's.

Zen Japanese Restaurant (closed)

You are in Thailand so why do you want Japanese food?

You may well be at Central Festival for a bit of shopping and subsequently want a bite to eat for to eat and it is well worth visiting.

This Japanese restaurant is a favourite of ours. We visit here because they have a good selection and is extremely convenient - there are a number of posts on this blog and they do not really vary.

There is an enormous selection of dishes - what you need to look at first is the set menu book.

With the set menus there will be with this - a bowl of plain rice, Miso Soup, a tiny side dish of something. It is definitely a good mixture to have - we always have one or two of these.

Then there are the menus that have all the side dishes - our favourite of these is the Gyoza - deep fried wontons - wonderful, but we ate them before I was able to take a photograph...

Then there is the drink - we are extremely boring and we have a great number of green teas whilst we have our food - always worth a visit.

Tiny Coffee

Despite it's name the Tiny Coffee Shop is not only a coffee shop.

We go in here on a regular basis because they are some outlets in Phuket (see the Map). The App that you are also able to download for free allows you to have a number of discounts as well.

The outlets are almost Western in design - white is the theme and the tables are chairs are mixed. We usually have a quick meal here. The Tiny Coffee has an enormous amount of different selections. The one we visited here is offered Hongsyok House - where the Baba Wedding Ceremonies begin...

The Thai food is really quite good - the dish that I have is almost a fusion food Fried spaghetti with Thai sausage is my choice - delicious.

I usually have the Black Sesame Dumplings in Ginger Tea - sweet for many but also delicious.

In fact download the App now and you are able to look at the whole menu and the number of dishes is very large - certainly worth a visit especially something quick but tasty and no feeling of 'fast food'.

Pirrera Cafe (closed)

This was a place which we had seen grown slowly amongst other places - The Pirrera Cafe. The Pirrera Cafe is in the heart of Phuket Old Town and is very convenient if you are wandering about - they also serve food.

The Cafe is on the corner of a crossroads which has given it character. The owner has subsequently added more character by putting a table outside at the crossroads and the way that it has been furnished.

Upstairs there are a few chairs and table, none of which are strictly matching - and there is also the opportunity to sit on cushions on the floor, I don't know if it is meant for that though? We have (to be fair) never seen anyone upstairs here and I do not know whether it is actually simply for decorative reasons?

Downstairs is also very similar but it does seem to be organised in a fashion to make it work - and it does. We were very comfortable at our table and we were taken care off smoothly, thank you.

The food - a salad and a Thai dish were nothing more than ordinary and there was a lot of green with the prawn salad that we shared. There was quite a large selection but we could not get the feeling that this was not 'really' a restaurant but a coffee shop serving food...

The coffee was the winner here - thank you. The coffee was reasonably strong and it had flavour, just a tiny bit of sugar needed here. Then we were able to relax and look at all of the little bits that had been organised here - there are certainly things to find - Yorkshire tea anyone?

Next time just a cup of coffee and one of those wonderfully looking cakes!

Ichisuchi

This was certainly an interesting find! Chuen had been told by her colleagues that there was a new Japanese Restaurant in Phuket Town that was definitely worth having a look - Jemma was at a birthday party so we visited!

Well this was not an easy place to find! Near to Bang Neow Shrine and almost opposite Keng Tin Thai Kanom Shop - not an easy place to find to park either.

I was immediately apprehensive when we walked in - the place was tiny and there were only about 5 tables in all. There was a grill outside and we only just managed to squeeze in...

After being seated for a while we ordered but this did not quell my worry - I was surprised the food was very good thank you very much. The salmon slices were immaculate and tasty - there just was not enough and we had to order more immediately.

The salads were a little normal (or our expectations were raised too high). The small side pieces (traditional in Japanese food) were exquisite - wonderful and I certainly wanted more of these pieces as well!

Well there was just not enough of anything...

The restaurant and staff were very helpful but I guess that it was too popular for it function smoothly as we were left with empty plates and our green tea was not replenished.

Very good but just not organised... yet...

Rider Cafe

This was a night out with a difference. I had visited the Baba Ceremony during the afternoon, visited Tiny Coffee, visited a bar with Jamie - Route 68 - and I was exhausted.

Jamie is a friend that I met through blogging and we occasionally meet - usually after an event. Jamie was having a facebook discussion on where you could purchase the best burger in Phuket. Now this was something which I had no idea on - so I was willing to go with him to investigate!

Wow - it was definitely a good burger - I am just glad that I remembered to take a photograph - the burger was a V-Twin burger or something like that!

This was then followed by an enormous piece of chocolate cake which was far more than one person could manage and a good cup of coffee - thanks Jamie.
