Juice Raw

I am always willing to try something new and this one was a simple option - I had far too much coffee already in the day and I was thirsty - no Bubble Tea for me today.

I entered into the 'Bar' and was initially made to feel comfortable by the staff - he prepared me a drink - a Bua Bok Passion. This is made of Bua Bok, Passion Fruit, Banana, Yoghurt and Ginger.

As I waited it was clear that there was free Wireless Internet so I checked in on Foursquare and looked around my surroundings and what else was on offer to drink.

I was immediately lost as to why people would want to drink Wheatgerm Juice and other items.

I wandered about and found that they also sold a number of beauty products.

My drink arrived - it was refreshing - I paid and left and was left with a misunderstanding of what I had drunk and what the bar was trying to show me.

On returning home I did find understanding after having read a piece on the Phuket News. I also found that there was a facebook page but I still don't know if it is for me - I like my coffee shops too much...

Rider Cafe

This was a night out with a difference. I had visited the Baba Ceremony during the afternoon, visited Tiny Coffee, visited a bar with Jamie - Route 68 - and I was exhausted.

Jamie is a friend that I met through blogging and we occasionally meet - usually after an event. Jamie was having a facebook discussion on where you could purchase the best burger in Phuket. Now this was something which I had no idea on - so I was willing to go with him to investigate!

Wow - it was definitely a good burger - I am just glad that I remembered to take a photograph - the burger was a V-Twin burger or something like that!

This was then followed by an enormous piece of chocolate cake which was far more than one person could manage and a good cup of coffee - thanks Jamie.

Downtown Kao-Kaeng (ดาวนทาวนขาวแกง)

It was our day off together so we usually investigate local restaurants, coffee shops and go shopping.

This time I had had enough shopping and elected to stay in a local restaurant next to the outdoor market in Phuket Town - there were two new signs!

Free Wi-Fi and Fresh coffee.

Wow - I was surprised - a great Cappuccino for only 35 Baht - I think that I might come back for lunch one day...

The best cheapest Cappuccino in Phuket Town!

The Beach Bar

deep fried fish with chilli sauce
The Beach Bar has been made very popular by the fact that the food is great, the location is great, the staff are so helpful (I still owe them money after Olivier and I ran out)! and Jamie's Blog.

sweet and sour chicken
The Beach Bar is exactly that - it is a small restaurant located on the beach - simplicity is sometimes the key to success. It is that simple...

Tom Yam Goong
So over the next months I will make a post regarding some aspect of the restaurant which makes it so special. Today I will focus on the plethora of fabulous dishes.

deep fried white fish with lemon grass
morning glory with oyster sauce
A wonderful dinner coupled with a fabulous location and I live very close to The Beach Bar so it is incredibly convenient to visit there - it's on the way home from work!

Baan Sattabun

This was certainly somewhere which we had not visited previously.  As we drove up the windy road which drove through a small village I began to get the feeling that we were going the wrong way - we were - so we turned around and headed up the other way.

I got the same feeling all over again!

We passed a place called Villa Zolitude - and kept going....

As we drove further we passed a small shop front which was almost hidden - we had arrived! A diamond in the rough - Baan Sattabun - wow what an impressive view (described as 180) but was over a great expanse. The view is not that dissimilar to that at Rang Hill but there is something special to this placement - maybe it is the fact that we could see the lights along the Promenade of restaurants in Chalong or the glow of Big Buddha...

Then the weather exploded on us!

This was not a trouble for the staff because we were the only people! We moved out of the rain and then ordered what we decided to eat.

The choice was enormous and I have to admit I do not order very much - Chuen (my wife) does it all for me and what a pleasure we had...

The fried rice for my daughter was pleasant and the Penang Curry that I wanted was 'hot - a good example that the kitchen knows what it is cooking.

The prices were reasonable but I did feel that the view was what really made the restaurant and without it (after 6) it was simply a pleasant restaurant!

Deep fried pork ribs with Kaffir Lime leaves - this was not for me because the bones were still there and to be eaten - no thank you.  The Tom Yam Goong was surprisingly bland, the fresh squid in lemon sauce was divine, the whole prawns in Tamarind sauce was good but not sweet enough for me - the best (for me) is Chaiyo Seafood.

So next time we are going to arrive earlier.
