ราชรส ตมซำ

This is one of our favourite Dim Sum restaurants because it makes the fresh folded dim sum wraps - delicious. This is a Dim Sum restaurant which is convenient place for us to go and it is near to my wife's favourite hairdressing salon...

The Chinese Tea is always exemplary and sometimes we can't get a seat! I would say stay away on the weekends!

This is apparently a chain Dim Sum but I cannot find any more in Phuket.

The restaurant does a great selection of Dim Sum.

I do like the sweetened tea though...

Mala Dim Sum - ตมซำนงสด ติ่มซำ

Mala Dim Sum - ตมซำนงสด ติ่มซ was the place we chose to go because it was convenient, near where we drop our daughter at school.

It is a local Dim Sum restaurant on the outskirts of Kathu. Jamie has visited there and has eaten more food types than we did - we were very simple and we just had a selection of Dim Sum.

There was a very swift turn over of people - we had 'done' our morning and the shops weren't all open yet so we were there with time to spend...

There was a large fridge and we chose the dishes we wanted from there well actually my lovely Thai wife chooses everything for me. Yes it is not inside the 'tourist areas' which means that there was not much in any language but Thai so I am lucky to be with.

They then took them to the 'cook' where they were prepared for us in the traditional steamers and they were lovely and certainly fresh! But how we always get the dishes we chose is beyond me - I am glad that I do not try to know what I want!

There was an option for Thai dishes as well - which I was not aware of! But the dish above  is what my wife had and then I read that Jamie's wife does the same thing!

Whilst I had any number of Dim Sum and of course some Chinese green tea.

I have certainly visited a number of Dim Sum restaurants but this was quite a slick operation - thank you.

ร้านวันจันทร์ (One Chun Cafe and Restaurant)

ร้านวันจันทร์ (One Chun Cafe and Restaurant) was a recent arrival on the 'grid' in Phuket Town. It looked good and was incredibly convenient for lovers of wandering around Phuket Old Town.

The decor is wonderful but not unique - until you look more carefully! There is the (what was 'hip') 'fake' broken paint work and bricks behind.

Then there are the scattered old electrical items - here there are old radios mounted on the walls, televisions on top of each other and clocks on the wall.

Where does all this stuff come from? The remains of all the Jumble Sales in the World end up in Phuket? My daughter and I decided to investigate a bit further and we then found our very real favourites.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Toy Story.

Then it was time for dinner - a simple selection of dishes which were reasonable cost. But there was nothing to remember from these dishes.

They were all very nice - but have we returned?

Fuji Japanese Restaurant @ Tesco Lotus

Fuji Japanese Restaurant Tesco Lotus Extra is somewhere we chose to visit because it was convenient and it was quick.

Very quickly we felt that we had chosen on a wrong day or we simply were in too much of a rush to enjoy it - we didn't...

Something was not quite all there, we were the only people in there (it was 11am) - the Miso Soup seemed to tasted old...

The whole set of food did not taste like many Japanese Restaurants that we had visited

Zaab

Zaab Kafe is a new and stylish Thai Esarn-Fusion restaurant/bakery cafe located in the center of Phuket Town.

This was a glorious find - I cannot remember when I first came here but I can remember coming to the bar across the road - TImberhut but I cannot recall the restaurant being here when I visited Timberhut!

So how many times have we visited?  Too many to count and I only recognise that I have been missing out on posting here. What is this place like?

Well it is fabulous for children - there are cuddly toys everywhere!

The colours remind me of a Primary School Classroom and on actually being there during the day if you gravitate towards the back there are a great number of children's toys to play with - we actually believe that we have met the owner's daughter there a number of times.

The food is wonderful - I do not know how many times we have dishes there and are happy!

From the Som Tam

the Honey Toast

the Fish and Chips and

my favourite the Mango Smoothie!

The cost of everything is incredibly good value as well - we did go in during the Phuket Vegetarian Festival and they were very strict with the foods.

I found this restaurant through Jamie - here is his review.
