ถูกปาก ก๋วยเตี๋ยวไก่มะระ

ถูกปาก ก๋วยเตี๋ยวไก่มะระ is a Noodle House which is certainly for the Thai people - there is nothing in the Noodle House in any other language than Thai. It was wonderful if you are looking for something which is certainly an authentic Local Thai Noodle shop...

The noodles were ordered on a piece of paper so if you are unable to read Thai then there is no menu except for this... Interesting to note that they are on Facebook as well.

The noodles are certainly spicy and I could not eat it - it was far too much for me!

The Iced Tea was good though - a shame about the paper cup though...

The Noodle House was small, tidy and clean. I would suggest that it you trued to go into this type of authentic Thai Noodle House would be that if you went in with a description of the noodles you want that they might be able to help you - an App might hep you?

Chapter 12 Steak Bar and Bistro

Chapter 12 Steak Bar + Bistro in Phuket Town serves a variety of steaks, spaghetti, salads and also desserts. We chose to go in here for somewhere different.

When we arrived there was nobody else there and nobody came in whilst we were there. The theme of the restaurant was very nicely reflected in the choice of the furnishings - it would be very photogenic to say the least.

The walls have what I would think is a great number of photographs of the foods served here adorning the walls.

But I could not find our dishes on the wall... We tried some of the food here and they were certainly beautifully presented but we felt that it was more 'style over substance'?

Or is it because we have become accustomed to the bite of the Thai food?

If you need Western food I would recommend coming here...

PS - the pudding was great...

Abdul's roti and more

Abdul is a local restaurant and it serves predominantly the local music community and as Phuket is actually 30% Muslim there are a number of these small restaurants. Thalang Road as a wonderful mixture of the different communities and this is why every time I visit Phuket Old Town there is something else to find.

At the front there is usually someone preparing food - rolls of prepared dough are all ready.

One by one they are rolled and pushed repeatedly. Then when they are ready they are spun into enormous discs - very clever...

Then the favourite of mine - the Roti - folded egg mixture, condensed milk added then the slices of banana added and cooked for a little more - my daughter's favourite.

Then there is the chicken masaman curry - tasty and certainly popular with the local community.

This curry is served with a savoury roti though - called 'apong'.

I love to go to watch the show that is put on for the passerby - certainly a place to visit if you are in Phuket Town. Here are photographs of my friend Jamie's visit.

Thanoon Seafood Restaurant (านอาหารท่านุ่นซีฟู๊ด)

Thanoon Seafood is a restaurant that we have visited a number of times. It is North of Phuket Island, over the Sarasin bridge and on the West.

It is adjacent to a stretch of beach which is quite lovely. There is plenty of shaded area for you to eat - which is why you will find Thai people here as well. There is no air-conditioning though so it is not for everybody.

The food is reasonable to very good dependent on what you chose.

The Coconut was fresh and the staff were very helpful in giving us what we wanted.

I would have to add though that the oysters were the winner here for us AND the 'side bits' that it came with.

The menu is very typical of a restaurant for Thai people and everything was in Thai BUT the menu was a 'picture menu' so this did not stop you choosing what you wanted. It was all reasonably priced, probably because it was for the Thai people which meant that it was great value.

The seats were comfortable and the toilets were a joy to find. We will certainly return

Hello Mango

This is the second Mango themed shop in Phuket Town - the other being Many Mango.

They seem to have everything Mango here - the list was enormous - in fact I gave up reading the chalk board.

You could have breakfast if you wanted to...

The mango was okay but the Roti was the best!

The mango soap was a favourite of ours though...
