Baan Had Rawai / Rawaila Seafood Restaurant (ราไวย์ล่า ซีฟู๊ด)

This is a spot that we take Thai friends who are visiting us but don't necessarily live in Phuket (and it does not cost too much). The restaurant was at the end of the road (opposite to the market end) but if you are going to look for better prices, lots of fresh fish and a different experience then try the Market end!

However we had family with us, it was close to the beach and an advantage was that it was not too busy!

So as soon as we sat down we were served very quickly - I do like it when this happens - I usually have an extra beer purely because of this...

Thai food is a very social food and sharing the food is one of the highlights - blog with a great many more.

What we ate we were very happy with

Bake - Cherng ta lay

We were looking for breakfast somewhere and we chose here because it the Bake Brand certainly has great cakes. There certainly seems to be a number of these outlets popping up over Phuket but they seem to quickly close down? The outlets are always somewhere which are tastefully decorated in their design and their furniture - our favorite was in Chalong.

So we had set breakfasts today - not quite enamored by the coffee (but the biscuit was tasty).

Then it was time for the yoghurt - which certainly needed the honey.

Then the orange juice - not sure why it was served with a straw?

The cappuccino was wonderfully strong - this was why we came here...

Followed by the BLT for my daughter and we were happy.

Then came the bill...

Southern Coffee - in Big C

Well I sat here whilst my wife went shopping and the convenience was above the quality of coffee.

But the staff were helpful and the Honey Toast kept me busy...

Pandog Restaurant and Art Gallery (closed?)

Pandog was certainly a surprise - an enormous model at the front certainly meant that you do not miss it...

Wow - this place reminds me of being a student all over again.

And the cappuccino was certainly very good.

I tried to go back again last month but unfortunately it was closed? But I felt obliged to post this because it was such a fascinating place to visit.

Im Aroi

This was certainly a restaurant which we had passed many times - it was usually somewhere we passed on leaving Phuket Town.

This time we stopped. This seems to be a popular place for the back packers (according to the Internet) but I saw nobody else but a local family who came in for dinner whilst we were there. Sitting on the crossroads was not something that I had anticipated but it was not as loud as I thought it would be.

A very simple menu - they serve breakfast and it was incredibly cheap! But we had a selection of Thai dishes and fish and chips.

It was great and incredibly simple - the staff were happy and they served us with pleasure - even checking whether our daughter enjoyed her dinner.

Then this might not be for you because it was not the cleanest of restaurants and the Thai food was certainly cooked for the Thai guest - but convenient and the portions were good, we al went home full.

บ้านบะหมี่

บ้านบะหมี่ was a local noodle story that I first visited with my wonderful wife and it was very good.
But there was absolutely nothing written in any other language other than Thai!

So if you go here be prepared to point at the pictures in the menu - if you do have anything in particular it may be of advantage if you take an App with you - the Thai Talking Food Menu App.

So be prepared not to be too sure what you are ordering and simply point  BUT it was certainly worth it. The noodles were spicy and definitely authentic.

The additions were wonderfully exemplary - as many times they are. I am not sure about the likelihood of the noodles having MSG in them however, I think that it is small but I keep reading about it!

The deep fried pork was (again) a wonderful addition to the noodles - they really are a must. I usually eat one whilst I am waiting or choosing my noodles and another one in the noodles.

Again add the extras carefully (from the left) salt, dried chilli, chilli in vinegar and soy sauce.

Then if you need a little more the very spicy chilli pieces.

I did use my Google Translate App...

Then we finished with a Thai desert which was brought from a local person walking past...

Fried ice cream rolls - (but now under construction @ Central)

Fried ice cream rolls are something that you could try whilst you are in Phuket - we we were in Central Festival - downstairs in the Food Court. So what was it made of? Well whole milk, Oreos and chocolate - that was it.

Chocolate first.

Then the Oreo and the milk poured together onto a frozen plate...

Crushed together and then flattened whilst it came together....

Then roll off the finished ice-cream.

Well I really should have videoed it - next time it's a 'Facebook Live'. BUT today it's off YouTube. Here's a YouTube to do this at home.
