Tu Kab Khao

Tu Kab Khao is an upmarket restaurant in Phuket Town.

The decoration inside and outside is really quite splendid.

I could have taken a plethora of photographs just of the furniture that surrounded us.

After the initial wonder of how beautiful the setting of the restaurant was it was time for something to eat. Happily I was not in charge of this and a wonder of dishes was ordered for me.

This does mean that I did not take any notice of what me ordered - but it was certainly worth it - the roti and the green curry was wonderful (top pic)- so good that we ordered it again.

On the Table

There are a number of OntheTables in Bangkok and we are usually happy when we go there. The company is actually recognized as OnthetableTokyoCafe

We have visited here more often now that we have visited the outlet here and elsewhere in Bangkok. They have an interesting philosophy -

"Consectetur, adipisci velit, sed quiaony on numquam eius modi tempora incidunt, ut laboret dolore agnam aliquam quaeratine voluptatem. ut enim ad minima veniamting suscipit lab"

I have no idea what this is or why the company chose it?

Anyway - the food clearly has a Japanese influence - there are Western style salads served with wasabi and they were wonderful.

It was very busy at lunchtime...Then there were some gyoza wrapped in bacon - delicious.

The chunky potatoes were tasty as well...

Then there was a pork chop - tasty...

The mango smoothy was very nice.

Then it was time for pudding...

Wine Connection Bistro (Paseo Ramkamhaeng)

The Wine Connection Bistro is a popular restaurant chain around Thailand and we do keep going back to it.
We had visited Wine Connection in Phuket a number of times and were very happy - so when there was an opportunity to visit one in Bangkok we were sure to go.

If you have visited a Wine Connection you would recognize that they are a Thai food chain

"Wine Connection is the leading chain of wine shops and wine-themed restaurants in South-East Asia. Established in 1998, Wine Connection has been developing expertise in wine for over 19 years."

So what do we have? The same thing basically all the time - we are not very adventurous here.

A salad...

Chunky Chips...

A pizza...

The wine may on a special...

In fact it is almost like being in Europe all over again - so if that is what you are looking for then this is certainly it - not as expensive as I thought...

First Cup Coffee

This was a cup of coffee that I chose to have because I was too early for Tesco Home Pro at Vanit Place - adjacent to the SkytrainAnd what a pleasure it was - apart from the plastic cup being so hot.

Then there was the Danish and the Wasabi peanuts - a place that I would visit again.

Whoops - the coffee was strong and freshly made, I would pop in on the way out of the Skytrain again...

Noodles House

Noodles House was a wonderful visit for me - the duck was beautiful - we returned again shortly. The restaurant itself is small and we almost missed it because it looked like a laundry because of the ironing at the back. Once we understood that this was the right place to go we saw the big sign - how could we miss that?

It is clearly a place that primarily the locals go - BUT happily the menu was in English as well.

The duck looked great.

We had noodles with the duck

and we had it with the rice - both were wonderful.  Looking for some authentic duck dishes? Visit here.

Cafe at Ease

I visited here after a wonderful escape into a completely different world of Bangkok - the house which Jim Thompson lived in whilst he was here.

The coffee shop is on the road leading to here and I stopped here on the way back - happily finding that it was cheaper than Starbucks.

The design was clearly modern with white tables and red roses for your coffee stop.

With the ambience that was created when I walked in - and then choosing not to sit in the air-conditioning it was a pleasant experience. And the coffee was strong but not bitter so I needed to add only a little sugar.

I would visit again if I was in the area...
