Shun By Sousaku

Shun By Sousaka was a surprise for us both. In a small promenade of shops - including Crust and adjacent to Index - we decided that we wanted Japanese. It was obviously new and the lunchtime rush was over. Welcomed in by happy people - seated quickly and given menus.

Nice set places by the way.

Then came the Hairy Beans - tasty! Then came the Miso Soup - tasty!

Then came the Temaki - tasty!

The came the dragon adorned with toasted Sesame Seeds!!!

We will be back!

Monkey Pod Coffee House

Monkey Pod has managed to still be there despite the difficulty in people finding it (East of the Heroine's Monument) and the fact that it does not really get much passing traffic - although it might because there is nothing else there. After our previous visits Monkey Pod seems to have found a balance. The decor does not seem to have weathered at all! It still looks clean (photographs) and I am sure the floor is polished.

There does seem to be a wide spread of Western, Thai dishes and fusion available - it really is quite interesting! The music is changing so I did not get swamped with the popular 'Lounge Cover Versions' - my rant of the day.

The Northern sausages and all it's condiments was great and then the baked potato slices with bacon bits! certainly multicultural!

The Som Tam was prepared freshly for us - and it certainly had a bite to it!

Then there was a cheese pizza!

Thai Noodle dish - after the Som Tam this was not spicy enough?

Finished off with ice-cream and a coffee - thank you.

ก๋วยเตี๊ยวดู๋ดี๋ - Local Noodles

ก๋วยเตี๊ยวดู๋ดี๋ this was a popular that we visit repeatedly because the noodles and everything else are consistently good.

Now I have no idea about the price here BUT it is for the local people and we never py very much. Then again there isn't a menu in any other language but Thai so I suggest you either cross your fingers or work out what noodles you want.

Before the noodles come buy some chicken satay from the lady by the side of the noodle shop - this would certainly help the hungry.

The noodles arrived with some more deep fried chicken from the street - delicious.

The Som Tam was pretty good too.

This was then finished with Lod Chong Nam Ka Ti
- some 'green worms' now this must be my favourite Thai desert and there are not many of them!

Tanmaling

Tanmaling is all about style - wow - talk about attention to detail!

The cushions and seating were beautiful!

The coffee machine sparkled.

There was obviously an interest in cameras. Looking at Tanmaling's facebook page it was clear that it was a bit more than a coffee chop - Coffee - Photo Arts - Furniture - Decoration.

Full of interesting things to look at - the coffee looked good but was not as special as the decorations.

Then we noticed a bicycle! Certainly an interesting place to visit.

Eleven Two & Company

Eleven Two + Company is a recent development in Phuket and I have visited it a number of times for a beer but for nothing else.

I wanted the Singha more than the food so I did not look at the menu for a while. I was also there with my wife Chuen and my friend Jamie.

Thalang Road was looking very organised in the evening and the lights added to the atmosphere. Looking back there was no one else in the restaurant for a while - I did notice that there was an air-conditioned room at the back. Much nicer to be in the open air - we did not move.

The beer was cold and the company good.On looking at the menu it was predominantly Western with a few Thai twists. So I chose dishes which I don't usually have.We had a Larb Gai with crispy wontons - delicious - spicy!

Then there was the shared Bruschetta - delicious - it all went a bit too quickly.

Jamie had a burger of some sort (check his review) so I chose to have another one, there was a 'cheese lava burger' which certainly sounded like something to investigate - next time?

Then my wife and I shared the Mango Crepes - delicious for me but a little sweet...

Then the decor of the place is pretty funky - love all the little bits, they are for sale - it reminded me a little of Chang Mai markets?

Great for a few beers and a bite to eat. Maybe I shouldn't be so thirsty next time I go?
