Zen @ Central Festival (closed)

Well we can't stay away from here - Zen at Central Festival.

The food is always fresh and the selection of dishes which you can have is enormous.

We had a deep fried fish with a salad, a beef dish 'set' and some gyoza's.

Do not forget to have the Miso soup - superb.

Wonderful

Then I nipped to Swensens across the way to get some ice cream :-)

The Point Bistro

This was certainly a convenient place to stop - opposite the Phuket International Hospital and between Tesco's and Central Festival.

If convenience is what you are looking for then this location is great.

If good food is what you are looking for then I would suggest elsewhere.

The food beef strips were average, the fruit drinks were clearly laced with sugar syrup, the spaghetti was loaded with chillis (after we indicated it was for our young daughter) and it was not very cheap.

Sorry not here again.

The Cable Grill at Premium Outlet

I was hungry and needed a burger and my guests wanted to go shopping....

Premium Outlet.

The burger was clearly fast food and I am not a fan....

Well it filled a hole - the staff were pleasant but there are a plethora of other places to eat whilst you are in Phuket - in fact on reflection why did I have a burger here at all?

home with timinphuket - gnocchi

Well sometimes what you think is not worth it is!

I would say that making your own homemade pasta is worth it and then when I made this gnocchi I was blown away - fabulous...

Baan Had Rawai

Baan Had Rawai is not a glamourous restaurant when you pass by it, in fact you may miss it - look out for the sign above.

The restaurant is a very simple Thai restaurant and it is almost Thai but it does not quite pull it off - it does very well in comparison to the restaurants in Rawai for a degree of authenticity but not quite.

I have to admit that the Som Tam was ordinary but the lettuce leaf?

But the oysters were superb!

Nice location and a reasonable dinner.

Subway

Sometimes I do not want to sit down with a knife and fork - I just want a bite to eat.

One of my favourite places for a 'snack' is the American sandwich chain - Subway.

There a number of these 46 outlets scattered throughout Thailand and 11 of them are in Phuket but I have visited the outlet at Patong and in Tesco Lotus. The success of this chain is that the bread and your chosen ingredients always taste fresh.

You can choose a number of things: type of bread?, (I usually choose sesame), toasted?, size?, filling? and sauces?.
Always filling.

Cloud 19 - Lianappa

Cloud 19 is really a restaurant called Lianappa and it can be found within a boutique hotel called Cloud 19.

Dinner is always started with a cocktail whilst we watch the sun go down over the local waters. We are also able to see Big Buddha from this position and the cocktails are always worth it.

When you choose to move for dinner you sit adjacent to the swimming pool and this always is lit in the dark. On some nights there is some musical entertainment but I was so preoccupied with the family and dinner I cannot remember which we had.

Once seated you are given two menus - one Western / Fusion and the other Thai food - they do make a nice balance. I always choose something different and I drank too much that evening to have any recollection as to what I ate - but the photos look good.

Always worth a visit.

Curry Night

Opposite the Radisson at Panwa. This is the same chef and staff (Anita and Sonia) that were previously at Live India (see earlier article). They have much more room here, upstairs with a big open balcony. The decor is slowly filling up now with and the food is just as fantastic as it ever was.
