Kota Khao Mun Kai

Kota Khao Mun Kai is in Phuket Town, near the more famous Mee Ton Poe and my favourite coffee shop Coffee Circle.

Kota Khao Mun Kai is a traditional Thai Noodle Restaurant that we went to because I like to try Noodle Shops and we wanted a big table. It is a traditional Thai Noodle shop with the preparing the foods at the front of the shop and then served from there. They are not always tidy however and they do not place that much attention on the cleanliness of the surroundings but when you live here it is something that you stop doing. But if you are someone who worries about the chopsticks and who had them previously then this might not be the location for you.

Kota Khao Mun Kai is certainly popular with the local people and with the 'Lonely Planet Tourist'  - this is the person who has done a little bit of research before they come OR they simply want to have a go.

So be careful when you go sometimes it can be very busy. The food was wonderful - the plate of the fresh meats to add to your noodles or rice was devoured very swiftly.

The soup was also prepared well - of original ingredients (no MSG here).

As we sat there - having multiple Iced Teas

I noticed that there was quite an amount of foods which were prepared for people not actually eating in the restaurant itself.

I have no idea about the price differences (if any) but it doesn't matter because the food was very good and was very cheap - we have since been there again.

เยาว์เย็นตาโฟ

เยาว์ เย็นตาโฟ is a popular Thai Noodle Shop on the outskirts of Phuket Town - we have never been there when there has been less that twenty people.

I was surprised that I had not posted about here previously and have subsequently out 3 visits into one here. I apologise for missing this out every time that I have been there.

I was interested to find that there was a website about eating in Phuket - and here is their review of เยาว์ เย็นตาโฟ. It is certainly a traditional Thai Noodle Shop. At the front is the 'cart' where the ingredients are picked, noodles are chosen and then the 'bowl' constructed.

This is always done quickly and is always tasty.

Then we get to the authenticity of their place and this is a fabulous example. The turn over is quick, the guests are predominantly Thai and both young and old.

The table is set up in the traditional way with the choice of ingredients to add to your noodles, used chopsticks to choose from and your table is covered in a plastic sheet so if this is what will worry you then do not choose to go here.

We love it - and then there was a display of all of their dress for the Phuket Vegetarian Festival...

เยาว์เย็นตาโฟ 2

เยาว์เย็นตาโฟ 2 was a place which we chose to go to because it was so convenient.

If you are looking for the authentic noodles then this is definitely the place for you to go. I did not see a menu at all - there was some Thai writing on the board though... The noodles were wonderful though.

I only got a small amount of the chilli for the soup.

Mixed into the broth and it was wonderful...

I did not need any of the usual extras that I usually put on my noodles.

Then I saw there was some crispy chicken to add to my Tom Yam noodles - magnificent collection of foods.

We have been again and I would highly recommend coming here...

Nikita's

Nikita's is a restaurant which we have visited a number of times. The only difference this time was that we were here for the location and to eat Thai food.

Rawai may be more known as a place for Muay Thai boxing and bars but it is not something we look for.

Nikita's is very close to the waterfront and sitting there makes the food taste better - a wonderful location. There is place to park your car if you have one. We have never been in the evening but from what I read it can be busy!

The food was great and this was a real pleasure - I do read that this is because we were with Thai people? So I suggest that take some Thai friends, learn some Thai or get an App to help you order your food. For example I could not eat this Som Tam made for our Thai friends who were with us!!!

More for me was this Som Tam...

So the Thai food was authentic, the beer cold, the company great and we will go back again - thank you for the service.
