Central Food Loft

Central Food Loft is on the top floor of a popular shopping mall - Central Chidlom. It is tastefully organized and there are a great number of choices for you - from Asian food to French mussels.

You take a card when you enter and then give the card to each cooking station and they add on what you have received - much like a traditional food mall but I would imagine that this description would not be well received.

It is a wonderful spot to escape from the hustle and bustle of the streets of Bangkok - the service was exemplary and the air-conditioning was welcoming.

However if you are looking for some delicious food then it was not what we found - but if you are looking for a 'trendy and upmarket dining concept' - then this is successful.

The cakes were very nice though.

Phuketique

Phuketique is a wonderful coffee shop to wait whilst you are waiting for a local bus to arrive. It was called Coffee Max but this did not last very long.

This is certainly a popular place to wait for something - the last time there was a lot more toys inside to to play with.

I always sat outside... Sitting at the Roundabout it is always interesting, always something different.

Then there was a monk today.

Certainly a place to sit and watch the world...

Big Chicken (Krua Tungtong)

This is a popular place for many people who live here to visit - we have visited a number of times, more than I have posted here!

The main food here is quite clearly 'chicken' and it really is quite delicious and certainly fresh!

You must have a beer with it though...

Of course there is Som Tam for us to eat with the chicken.

Then some delicious Thai crispy catfish and green mango salad
- yum pla dook foo.

Always a pleasure...

Pancake Corner and the Coffee Club (The Limelight)

Pancake Corner is somewhere which we go more often than we should because it is a total indulgence - it is not cheap and the helpings are small. BUT we keep going because we love the indulgence....

If you love the chocolate then this is certainly a place to visit...

And who ate the most?

I thought that this poster was great - see you again

But the coffee is just okay...

Best just to stick to the chocolate something...

Street Food - fruit

Fuit is something that I am guilty of not eating enough of.

So imagine my pleasure when there is a local guy standing at the side of the road ready for me to chop up fresh pineapple for you.

Every day and here he is with the coffee man...

Food Court - Vanit Place

A food court is not always something which is for everybody. The first thing to remember is that to purchase the dishes you must first get a 'card'. This is something which is common in Thailand and seems obvious once you have done to once.

Give some money (I usually give 100 Baht) to them and they will return a card with the 100 Baht 'loaded on it'. Now choose the dish which you would like.

Then take the dish and give the card to them and they will debit the money from the card. BUT don't forget to give the card back when you leave - they will return whatever money is left.

So how do you choose?

If I have never been before I usually find the place with the biggest queue.

I usually have the Som Tam because they make it whilst you wait and I can ask for it to be 'may pet' - not hot.

It was a great lunch and I have been again.

Mee Ton Poe 1

Mee Ton Poe is a popular small restaurant in the heart of Phuket Old Town. It is popular with the local people and you will find it busier that you had imagined.

Please don't expect anything else that rapid service and tasty food. There is certainly no more extras at this restaurant than that!

I am lucky to be married to a beautiful Thai woman who orders everything for me when we go - if you do go there is a menu that is sometimes given to us - or take this Thai Talking menu App with you?

So we order the noodles and the extras...

Delicious.
