ร้านส้มตำ เสียงแคน (Siangkaen)

ร้านส้มตำ เสียงแคน is a traditional Thai restaurant and all the descriptions indicate that it is a Thai restaurant and salad place.

ร้านส้มตำ เสียงแคน is adjacent to the main road so it makes it great for parking but not the most peaceful place to sit - but the food!

The description would explain why there were so many variations of Som Tam that there are - so if Som Tam is what you are looking for then this is the place to go.

The Som Tam that we had was seriously hot and I was unable to eat it - however my wife thought that it was great and certainly traditional.

So we ordered another one.

Then there was a BBQ which i did not wish for - it may have been tasty but the menu was enough for me - sorry..

So if you are looking for Traditional Thai Food then this is a good place, but not for everyone.

จ่วนเฮี้ยง สาขา2

จ่วนเฮี้ยง สาขา2. was a place that we decided to visit because we wanted somewhere new to visit BUT we couldn't find it - it wasn't down that side road was it?

Well it was - there was some construction going on... Well there is something that I would add and don't be late because we could only choose what was left from everybody else.

What was given to us was very nice but I think it was more to do with me being annoyed that we were late - it was now 10am!

Moral of the visit - DO NOT go too late because lots of your choice has already gone!

BUT we will go back...

Moon House Restaurant (Munchhausen)

Moon House Restaurant was somewhere on the way home from work and we did visit it a number of times because of the ease of getting there. The location close to the road would not suit everyone and there was not a lot more to see the other way!

But we were not there for the view or the comfort - we were there for a pizza - with extra cheese.

I had the Schnitzel.

There seemed to be a great deal of attention placed to this one person on the wall - we think that she is the owner?

Looking at the images on foursquare there may also be Japanese food here for sale and Thai food but we have never come here for anything else. Odd that there had been no reviews on TripAdvisor for 2 years...

A quick stop for a bite to eat would be the best way that I would describe it.

Street Food

Many people come to Phuket and Thailand for a great many different things.

One of them is to try the Local Food and  it is NOT on the list.

I have begun to make a list of the Street Foods that I have eaten in Phuket on this blog and I do intend to continue. However I am not sure that I will finish - in Phuket Old Town there are so many Noodle Shops!

But I did find that at the Phuket Thai Hua Museum it did give a great number of ideas of where to go to get specific foods - the map is below...

Chaiyo Seafood

Chaiyo Seafood is near to our home so it is always a place that we choose to pop in on the way from somewhere else.

It is always a good idea to arrive in the light so that you can understand that you are directly next to the fast moving Klong and you have the choice to sit on the floating barge or stay on the dry land.

If you go to the barge you will see all the live fish or crabs swimming around in nets and you can choose them. Then there is the gentle rocking of the barge which I did feel a little disconcerting the very first time that we went.

In the number of visits that we have made here I have only ever seen one other non-Thai people - I think that this is popular with the local people.

Their Bua Tod is the best in Phuket.

The rice was a little more interesting than a shape of boiled rice.

The soup was too powerful for me - I think that it was Geang Som soup - not my particular favour and certainly not for everyone - it is a sweet and sour soup!

Then there was the steamed fish and that was very nice - but as the sun went down I realised that picking out the it's bones was quite difficult with only a low light.

As we returned to our car we walked past a number of 'cultural objects'.

Then there was a link to the tin-mining industry....
