ราชรส ตมซำ

ราชรส ติ่มซำ is a relatively new Dim Sum Restaurant just on the outskirts of Phuket Town - it is on the way to Vachira and the Bangkok Hospital Phuket.

As I have indicted before when visiting Dim Sum sometimes the earlier in the morning is better BUT on the weekends / holidays they can be full because families have decided to come out for breakfast - I would avoid those periods - especially as they have nothing to rush for!

There is a small capacity car park round the side but we always cross our fingers that a space will pop up nearby. The restaurant is so popular that they also setup tables across from the main building so it is an establishment which is hard to miss! Thinking of that when it is closed it is even easier to see because the enormous pile of Dim Sum steamers that are drying in the sunshine.

At the front are two enormous fridges which contain the ready prepared pieces for you to select.

After they are selected they are then put in the adjacent steamers - how more mistakes are not made I do not know!

We always have an interesting selection.

After selecting a number of dishes we turned to sit down but what this man making?

Braek Taek - ร้านก๋วยเตี๋ยวเบรคแตก

Braek Taek - ร้านก๋วยเตี๋ยวเบรคแตก, is a Thai Traditional Noodle Shop which is popular with the local people of Phuket. It is always busy! We have also not been able to get a seat and had to go elsewhere. Braek Taek is just on the outskirts of Phuket Town on the Phang Nga Road.

This is an absolutely wonderful and typical Thai Traditional Noodle Shop - so if you are looking for this then this is a wonderful example.

The tables and chairs are simple, fans are on the wall and there is a televison on in the background. The staff are typical smiling Thai ladies and I thought that it probably was a family noodle shop but as much in Phuket I can find almost nothing more than conjecture...

Outside the front there was a cart with a 'money nut seller and sweetcorn' and it was clear that she was usually there. Chatting happily was the cook of the noodles and the fish balls in the traditional hot water stand.

The noodles were spot-on. The paste was put to one side and I slowly added it to make it just that bit more spicy - Fabulous!!!!

So how much was the two bowls of noodles and some crispy Wontons - 115 Baht!

We are certainly visiting here again and again!

Phuket Tea Station

Phuket Tea Station is a place which I visit when I usually walk through Phuket Town in the morning.

It is always clean and always air-conditioned.

I always go in here and have a bubble tea (with the black jelly balls) and then some Traditional Thai Kanom - Tor Sao Pia.

Okay so I nearly always have the same thing so this time I chose to have both of the Tor Sao Pia - red and purple. As I sit and watch the world pass by I always recognise that I have never had anything else - but there are always Thai people having food - maybe next time? Along with my nibbles I always peruse the shelving for traditional Thai sweets - usually buying something else.

Don't forget that there is Free WiFi and if you check in on facebook you will get 5% discount.

Baan Ra Tree

Baan Ra Tree was a new restaurant which was opened recently and is adjacent to the Cape Panwa Promenade. It was originally in Nai Yang, I believe and now I think that this one is now here at Cape Panwa - well that's what it looks like if I read TripAdvisor....

The ground is actually sand - which did make sitting in the chairs entertaining plus when you could sit and watch the traffic drive past - once settled it was not an issue. There was the opportunity to sit inside and with air conditioning if that was what you wanted - we stayed outside.

We took dinner very early (6pm) and it was very quiet - which meant that we were served swiftly. Well there was a very extensive menu to choose from and we took a long time trying to decide...

We had some Mango Salad - fresh and delicious.

Then there was the green vegetables in sauce - very tasty.

The steamed rice was served with a litte style and originality.

The duck curry was superb - nice pieces of duck!

Then there were prawns in a sweet and sour sauce - okay.

and Jemma had fish and chips - very good. (Follow me on twitter to find the best fish and chips in Phuket - https://twitter.com/timinphuket - #fishandchipsinphuket)

Well that was certainly enough... so I went to take a photograph of the sunset.

Returning to the restaurant being lit up - we were still the only diners.

Then there was a plate of complimentary fruit for us and a teapot of green-tea - a vey nice gesture which I feel we should see more of the restaurants in Phuket.

A very nice dinner - we shall certainly return.

Gluay Nam Wa - (Yaowarat Rd)

Gluay Nam Wa (as I later found out) is actually a Thai restaurant chain! This visit was only whilst I was waiting for a friend and it was then I recognised it as a chain.

It is in three places (that I have been in Phuket); in front of the park, near the hospital and all of them have the monkey outside.

Well designer wise it is a pretty cool place - I did wonder whether they could use the cups above the cashiers or if they were stuck on?

Then there was the selection of macaroons - and here they were labelled (hint for other places).

Then there was the choice of music they had - who did this? Soundhound helped me out with a lot of the results.

Then there was the selection of cakes you could have - all looking eatable.

Then there was the door - have you seen this anywhere else?

Then there was free WiFi - WiFi Map - an App that I added the WiFi code to! There does seem to be an extensive menu as well!

Oh and the coffee was pretty good as well - it does need another visit.
