ซิน ซิน - Xin Xin

This was certainly a wonderful revelation to find. This was a Traditional Chinese restaurant which was clearly a family business and were happy welcomed by what was the mother of the family.

And family was exactly how we were treated. There are a great many of these small places scattered throughout Phuket and they are definitely worth visiting if you want a truly real experience of Phuket dining.

So how was the food? It was magnificent and we have since returned. The noodles were certainly freshly made and it was almost the best deep fried pork in Phuket, but that would be ซินซิน บะหมี่เบตง.

Then the simple fried rice was also freshly made - a clue to this was the quality of the condiments that came with it. 

Then I read on the posters how long that this small shop may have been in Phuket but has links to Facebook.

And they had WiFi...

Well this is listed on foursquare as a 'Salad Place' and I was only aware of that after we had left.

So what is this place? Well it certainly has an enormous amount of character which we did not expect - rich in character would be what I would describe it has.

I wonder where they found all these bits?

The walls are covered with a number of different items.

Fascinating things but I am sure that they are original. 

the elephant god Ganesha is popular to these people.

Then the LEGO models which my daughter adored.

Then Captain America and Wolverine joined us...

I almost forgot - the salad - the fruit starter was wonderful.

Then there were the ribs!

The Saba fish...

There was so much and so much more...

ร้านอาหารเช้าอิสลาม - Borae

ร้านอาหารเช้าอิสลาม (Borae)  is very close to where I live and it is where I must pick ups the bus in the morning. So this means that I have seen a lot and had a lot here. I believe that it was once called Sala Deang?

There are 4 places in a very close vicinity where you can purchase food from and neither one sees to worry about the other.

1) The Patongkoh - deep fried dough balls - delicious for a munch. 

2) Beef Strips - freshly made.

3) Fried chicken - a favourite of my daughter's. There is a lot more here which you may find of interest 
- the Hor Mok is always popular.

4) A seated selection of dishes and the wonderful Cha Yen - iced tea.

Food Mall @ Tesco Lotus Extra

Tescolotus is not just a place to go shopping. Upstairs from all this shopping is a big Food Mall - these are popular throughout Thailand.

They are a common throughout Thailand and it took me a while to understand them.

Here's a guide which I hope will help.

 1) Buy a coupon when you arrive at the desk at the front.

 2) Walk round the selection of food stations and choose what dishes and drinks you would like.

 3) When your dishes are chosen hand over the vouchers.

 4) Here money will be debited.

 5) Collect your cutlery - dipping it in the hot water to clean it.

 6) Enjoy.

So how do you choose? Well I must say that I rarely go by myself and my wife chooses for me. I have to say that I usually have the duck and rice - always delicious...

Reading everything there is Western Food but I have never eaten it.

Taitong Cafe

This is certainly a Cafe with a reason to visit - it certainly is interesting.

Then the cappuccino came - wow the top of the cappuccino was almost too much but the espresso was strong... Sitting by the side of the road it was certainly a place to sit and watch the world go by...

Then it was time to pay his bill and I noticed more decorations inside and outside.

I am certainly going back - just for the cappuccino...

After reading their Facebook I found that they do serve breakfast - next time...
