Cha Kang Raw Noodles - ก๋วยเตี๋ยวต้มยำ ชากังราว

Cha Kang Raw Noodles is certainly a place that is popular with the local islanders and the children at school on their breaks.

It is simply set up (much like a traditional Thai Noodle operation) and runs smoothly. I have now seen these bowls everywhere - they seem to be very popular.

You are handed a menu as soon as you sit down  - the menu is almost too simple!
1) Choose you noodles 2) Choose your flavour

They were out of coffee though - you can buy some Thai coffees from the street sellers adjacent to the front - but no cappuccino?

So we both of us have Traditional Thai noodles but mine did not have the bones in...

Of course I had an iced tea whilst we waited.

I was not aware that they were serving Korean Ice Cream though - maybe next time?

Coffee Brick

Coffee Brick is made up of 4 large shipping containers so that makes it an interesting place immediately.

Coffee Brick is characterized by an atmosphere that was created from a modern loft chic concept. It is comprised from 4 large shipping containers that overlap each other to give a very attention-grabbing and distinctive appearance.

I understand that there is now the possibility of having something cooked for you - not that we did.

The background to the cafe is certainly interesting and then there is the furniture.

I like a little bit of thought provoking last thing in the day...

So we had a coffee and a cappuccino - both delicious - but the cappuccino was a little sweet for some - I was very happy thank you.

This was shared with a very chocolate brownie - it was a fabulous duo.

Thank you from us all.

Kanemochii Ice cream - Limelight

Kanemochii is an ice cream company which I had not heard of before but I keep seeing more and more - there are a number of them throughout Thailand.

This particular one was in the 'Limelight Shopping Mall'. So what's the difference with this ice cream and the plethora of other ice cream shops? Kanemochii is different and this is best explained by them...

"Kanemochi is a dessert/ice-cream brand famous for Japanese mochi with premium grade ice-cream filling (specific name in Japanese is ice-cream daifuku). The dessert usually goes by with a popular name of mochi ice-cream. The word “Kanemochi” in Japanese means “rich” and the confection’s predecessor “Daifuku” means “extremely lucky”. Hence, we use this word as our brand hoping that all our customers will be happy, lucky and wealthy, just like how Japanese people traditionally eat daifukus for important events, believing that it will bring them good fortune."

So the ice cream certainly tastes a little different than I was used to eating and this is why I never went back - for me this was not a choice for me personally BUT there were people sitting in the restaurant adjacent to it.

So what choices were there?

milk / vanilla / mocha chip / chocolate /green tea / strawberry melon / Korean banana milk / peach / blueberry / tropical lime / milky tea / choco vanilla / yoghurt / cookie + cream / taro / milky red bean / mint choc chip / jasmine.

So I guess that you will be able to find something that you would like? When I looked more I also found that there were dishes to have.

Kopi de Phuket

Kopi de Phuket is somewhere which is in the heart of Phuket Old Town and is certainly an interesting place to visit.

There is an enormous selection of drinks and that are certainly worth trying.

The walls of the small restaurant (you can sit at the back if it looks busy) are covered with interesting objects.

I am not sure whether these items are purchased from somewhere?

The cafe is popular with the local people, this visit we were sitting adjacent to a number of adult traders who seemed as if they were trading stories with each other.

There was certainly a selection to choose from - these were the fresh Vietnamese spring rolls.

Then there was fish and chips!

The local food were the best things to choose from out of what we had that day. We will certainly visit again.

Don't forget to look if you can have food or a drink at the back.

You can buy some things to take home with you?

Uptown

It was time to find a Vegetarian Restaurant - well it is the Phuket Vegetarian Restaurant. We were not disappointed -

the Uptown restaurant only had a Vegetarian Menu when we visited!

The restaurant was almost empty when we visited - maybe this was why it was almost empty when we were there in the late evening (9pm) or the menu - Willy from Phuket 101 has visited the restaurant and there is normally an extensive (and cheap) restaurant.

Well the food was only as good as it's ingredients... this was fabulous for my wife but far too hot for me !

The black bean something was fabulous (at the top) and the spring rolls with corn curry cakes were great.

It does certainly seem like a place to visit again - this seems to be convenient if you are going shopping in the Expo Markets along the road.
