Factory Coffee - Bangkok

Are you looking for that Cafe dedicated to the coffee? Then I would recommend Factory Coffee - it was a delight from beginning to end - if that's what you want.

It looked interesting from the outside and inside it was cool (not cold) and decorated minimally. I was drawn instantly to the 'slogan' at the back.

I had to stop again for a coffee at Factory Coffee - I had a special this time. The seating was mixed styles and I chose to sit at a bar - I was only having a cake and coffee.

I took my numbered empty Mekhong bottle and waited. There were not the usual collection of people in the coffee shop and there was not the usual chords for the Wi-Fi - in fact I don't think I checked.

"Awarded National Thailand Barista Champion 2017 and Indy Thailand Barista Champion 2016, this coffee bar offers the space for Phaya Thai’s hipsters come here for creative coffee mocktails pawed over by floppy-haired baristas amid raw concrete, vintage Americana and dry floral bouquets paired with homemade bakery or fill up on the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on toast, river prawn spaghetti and Caesar salad." - BK.asia-city review

My carrot cake arrived first but I chose to wait for my 'El Brown' - double layer of espresso and chocolate milk.

Whilst waiting we list to John Coltrane... I was young again - in that bar in the West End in London...

Then the drink came and I took a sip - and was surprise at the quality - I really should stop buying coffee off the street...

The carrot cake was a perfect combination...

This is certainly worth a stop if you like your coffee or bring some coffee for someone who does.

YoYai Restaurant

YoYai Restaurant is a place that we found whilst investigating a reasonable sized shopping mall - Paseo Shopping Mall - near our home.

YoYai seemed to be a popular place - as we had to walk round twice before we got a seat and on writing this I found that there are a great many outlets - 82 in Bangkok alone.

YoYai is a traditional Japanese Restaurant but we found that it a spark of individuality which we do not always experience - for example - cheese over the gyoza - we went back and found that it was a special.

You could also sit at your table a look at the electronic menu and see what you had ordered and when it would be at the table.

I did love the teapots for the green tea though.

Time: 10:00 - 22:00
Phone Number: 02 346 4196
Approximate Price: $$$$$
Address: Paseo Shopping Mall (and others)

In fact in all the times that we have visited I have never been disappointed - and we have certainly been there a number of times - in fact this may be our favourite Dim Sum in Phuket.

I would always recommend having the dishes that they are freshly preparing for you at the front.

and of course the Iced Tea.

Siangkaen - ร้านส้มตำ เสียงแคน

Siangkaen - ร้านส้มตำ เสียงแคน is a restaurant which is not always the easiest to find but it certainly is worth looking out for if you are looking for some Som Tam.

I do not know how many different versions of Som Tum that they actually have but there is a great amount to choose from - my wife has the version with the small crab in and goodness knows what else - but that's not for me.

We ordered our dishes and then watched some of them being prepared - it was certainly a very bust restaurant for lunch.

I had a different version - certainly spicy though.

The yum pla dook fu (crispy catfish salad) was a Thai salad which was wonderful and certainly freshly made.

Then the pork with the Kaffir lime leaves as also wonderful.
