The Food Gallery

The Food Gallery is a relatively new Cafe and Restaurant in Phuket Old Town - it is in the same place as The Gallery Cafe was...

It is certainly in a very good location for those of you who would like to wander around. The decoration certainly is Western and to find a place like that here was wonderful.

There was toilets upstairs and you could choose to be in the air-conditioning or not.

I chose to watch the world go round and sit on the seat outside.

The coffee was great - creamy on the top and it was strong below it - yes I had to add some sugar. I also chose to pick up the newspaper - how many places do not provide this anymore?

There was free WiFi so as soon as I had realised that there was not much in the paper I read the menu - it looked good! Next time I will return for something to eat.

The Cook

On entering it is clearly a small enterprise but is very popular with both the Thai people and the visitor - Lonely Planet and Travelfish both mention it!

Wow and the prices were more than reasonable! We were in the heart of Phuket Town and we had been recommended to visit here by some local Thai friends - because of the Thai style pizzas - Fusion food!!!!

We started off with the shakes - again choosing a Mango shake - love the fact that they are prepared for you and they were certainly worth more than what they charged! The pizza arrived swiftly...

We had some spring rolls.

Then the Tom Yam Goong arrived and that certainly was a Thai style dish - wow, spicy! So much so that I left it to my wife!!Who later told me that she had ordered it Southern Thai style!!

Me I had the chicken fried rice - loved the egg on top as well.

Full we ordered the bill and what a nice touch we received some watermelon and small oranges - really think that this should be embraced by other restaurants - how much does it that dish above cost?

We will visit you again...

Rimtang (Chalong) - ริมทาง @ ฉลอง

This was somewhere which we popped for a snack and we had popped into a previous Rimtang in Phuket Town. The restaurant was at the end of a small road and adjacent next to a large lake - very different from the one which we visited previously!

There was an inside and an outside - we chose to be outside next to the lake - lovely.

We started with two different mango shakes - both were delicious.

Some Vietnamese Spring rolls.

There was a Som Tam dish but there really wasn't enough of it and a selection of other dishes but I have forgotten what they were! Some mango and sticky rice - but I ate it all before thinking of taking a photograph!!!

So we will have to visit again.

ราชรส ตมซำ

This was certainly something to look forward to - I sometimes feel that this is the best breakfast in the world - depending on how I feel of course!

So what did we have different from the last time? Well not a lot actually but it was still very good.

They were still making the folded dish at the front - delicious.

Of course the Iced tea and the Hot Green Tea were complimentary to the food we chose - it was busy again!

Which was made busier when people stayed in because of the rain!

Roti Sai Mai - Street Food

There really has not been enough written about how absolutely addictive this stuff is.

I have to admit to loving it most when they cook the 'wraps' whilst you wait.

The best description of this that I found was called -

"Thai Cotton Candy in a Pancake Desert".

There are more descriptions throughout the Internet but I think that it looks -

"Good enough to eat".
