Leelawadee

Well I have not reviewed this restaurant for quite a while - and I feel ashamed at how I began to review all of the restaurants that I visited - but hey one has to start somewhere?

So Leelawadee (which is actually the name of a very pretty flower) - is next to where my daughter used to go to school - Kanjonkiet Primary School. The school still exists there but Jemma's part has moved.

We drove past here because we were going to visit Phuket Bird Paradise later (a post to be written here).

Leelawadee is a restaurant which is popular with Thai people as well as the farangs who send their child to Kajonkiet school so sometimes it can be busy. I haven't met Jamie here yet though - more photos here.

The food is of a very good quality - the deep fried catfish was fresh, the Som Tam crisp and the sticky rice was great...

I have got no idea why I ordered this drink (at the top) though - it was dreadful - not again, if only I can remember what it was!

Okay the location is not great but if you are on your way somewhere?

A traditional Thai breakfast in Phuket Old Town - Phuket Muslim

This was certainly an interesting excursion because as I look at the photographs I have to be clear - I am not sure at all what it was that I ate! Tasted great when I got over the fact that my Thai is not good.

I was in Phuket Town waiting for an event - this also I have forgotten and it was to take place from Queen Sirikit Park. Being punctual I was there when I was asked to and then I remembered that many things in Thailand do not start when it says so on a piece of paper.

Never mind - I went to get breakfast - armed with my camera I walked into Phuket Old Town. There was a busy restaurant filled with a mixture of families and Thai people. Well the welcome I got was all embracing (see man at top). I do not think that they get many farangs in here!

As I sat down on the stool I realised that I was not going to get a menu - I really should have used that Thai talking menu food App - but I was lost for words - next time.

I just nodded at everything that I was offered - I indicated other tables and got a mixture of things. I got a small dish of a meat which I did not recognise (not pork) in a sweet curry sauce, not my choice... Then I got the tradition Roti (i think) but it was chopped up and then a fried egg was placed on top.

Yummy - not all of it...

Then I was served the Traditional Thai coffee (i think) it was very strong but very heavy - i wanted to add some 'sticky milk' but none was offered. I added the dried milk on the table and then lots of sugar - still STRONG!.

A great morning and thank you to all of the people who welcomed me so gracefully.

Natural

We have visited here a number of times and loved it every time.  This is a popular restaurant with a vast menu of Thai food and Western food.

There is a great collection of fruit drinks and the restaurant is scattered with a plethora of different things to look at - vinyl records, old irons, tables which were sewing machines the list is endless.

We visited here when it was quite subdued and I was taking my wife to work - really quite lovely.

The food though was a disaster - the scallops were not cooked through, the shredded mango was clearly not fresh, the squid was luke warm and also not fresh...

Not sure that we will be visiting here again quickly... BUT I do think that it might have been a bad day or they were using product which was 'on it's last legs'?

Nikita's and their pizzas

Nikita's is a popular choice of ours and we have visited previously - the pizzas are great and the view is quite wonderful - well we usually go at lunchtime though so I do not know how busy the restaurant gets when the Muay Thai boxers finish....

So ours is usually a lunchtime review - lovely staff, lovely setting and lovely pizza's - I tried some European food and it was European, I guess that I missed the 'kick' of Thai food...

but I forgot to try whether they had wireless Internet - next time.

Jemma and Mantana wanted a pizza each!!!
