Mee Ton Poe (1)

Mee Ton Poe is the noodle shop in Phuket which has had the most written about it - Travelfish and Phuket.com for example.  . It certainly is popular with the local people so sometimes it has meant that we had to wait to get a seat!

Well Mee Ton Poe has certainly got an extensive menu and they have a menu in English. For me I usually eat with my wife (who is Thai) so it is usually easy to get ordered. There is also a menu on the wall and if you really need more take the Thai Talking Food App to help you order the dish that you want.

We usually have Chicken Satay.

Thai Iced Tea.

Steamed fish in banana leaf - Hor Mok.

and Hokkien Noodles.

On every table there is a selection of things to add to your noodles - dry chilli, chilli in white vineger, salt and fish sauce. The noodles are served with a noodle spoon and chopsticks - authentic and wonderful.

The menu is quite extensive with all the Traditional Thai dishes but we are a little lazy and stick to the usual. 

But any of the Noodle selections has been great I always choose to add the onions and the crispy pork when I visit here - always crunchy.

Shabushi (ชาบูชิ) - Central Festival

Shabushi (ชาบูชิ) in Central Festival was our choice today. Central Festival is an Americanised Shopping Mall, Cinema on the top floor, a plethora of restaurants and much more. I wanted something different to eat and so this was it.

We have all seen those films with the food rotating round in front of you and you wait for your dish to come round and then take it?

 I just wanted to know how easy this would be - it was a lot quicker than I thought that it would be. I kept missing dishes!

So I retired to the easier portion of the restaurant - food was simple set out like a buffet and there were lots of Japanese dishes for you to choose from and they didn't ever seem to run out!

So I just kept eating... and then there was this one dish (above and in the video) in which we cooked an egg which certainly did not agree with me so much so that I could not eat and wow - I have no idea what it is but I would imagine that I ate all the other food so quickly - like the food moving around!

It was that I was told that to eat here we were on a package to eat as much as you like - I did wonder as I sat down how this would work.

So I retired to the Chocolate Ice Cream.

Wang Dim Sum - วัง ติ่ม ซำ

Wang Dim Sum was a place that I visited some time ago because it 'appeared' on the 'My Destination App'. So - let's try it.

The outlet was surprisingly quiet, if it had not been on the App I would not have ventured inside! There was so much to choose from and I was swiftly happy that it was not a busy restaurant - I did not have to choose everything at a pace!

Choosing was the hardest part - there was so much of it! But I chose enough - sitting down I ordered my Chinese Iced Tea - very sweet but after a busy morning I was more than happy with it! 

After choosing everything from the fridges all the selections went into the bamboo (are they still made of bamboo?) steamers.

The selection came out all together - steaming.

I would love to tell you what I ate but I really don't have a clue - I just took what looked good - is there a Dim Sum App?

But it was all very good - in Phuket Old Town which (after 15 years) is still a favourite of mine.
