Embassy Park Plaza (closed)

Embassy Park Plaza is a wonderful place for lunch. It is a very popular place for a great many Thai people who work in the offices around.

So when is street food not street food? When it is served at a table?

Here there are a plethora of dishes to choose from - and I have little to no idea what it all is - sorry there will be no menus, no time to wait and just point and choose it.

My favorite dish is the deep fried chicken served with boiled vegetables and rice.

Just recently I was asked if I wanted mayonnaise and I declined - so the helpful staff pointed at this spicy mixture above and wow it was pure heaven - I have no idea what it was though...

I always get there at about 11:30 am because it can get busy a little later on and yes I am guilty of sometimes wondering how long the food has been sitting there but this soon disappears and I get a smile from the staff - I think I have only ever see one person in here who was not Asian.

There is water on the table but I always take one from the fridge and the whole lot comes to about 80 Baht.
I visit here once a week - don't forget to collect your spoon, fork or chopsticks before you sit down.

Sac's Boulangerie Patisserie (closed)

Sacs is a place that we have visited a number of times for breakfast and it does have the best strawberry jam in Phuket.

The location is certainly not for everyone - on the side of the road and next to a local vet. BUT there is ample room to park at the front?

The breakfast was again super - there has never been many people here when we have gone and I think that this helps the fact that there is so little wait. They even changed the set up for my daughter to have French Fries and more bacon for breakfast... It is a traditionally Western menu but I have to say I keep forgetting to read it thoroughly because we always only ask for the breakfast menu - next time...

The fruit juice always comes first, then the coffee and the plate for breakfast...
Then there was the ice cream for breakfast!

What can I add?

It now has a small 'fruit bar' at the front of it but we have never partaken of this - maybe another time? They also sell bread and there is a menu but we have only ever gone for breakfast - another time?

The Food Gallery (closed)

The Food Gallery is a relatively new Cafe and Restaurant in Phuket Old Town - it is in the same place as The Gallery Cafe was...

It is certainly in a very good location for those of you who would like to wander around. The decoration certainly is Western and to find a place like that here was wonderful.

There was toilets upstairs and you could choose to be in the air-conditioning or not.

I chose to watch the world go round and sit on the seat outside.

The coffee was great - creamy on the top and it was strong below it - yes I had to add some sugar. I also chose to pick up the newspaper - how many places do not provide this anymore?

There was free WiFi so as soon as I had realised that there was not much in the paper I read the menu - it looked good! Next time I will return for something to eat.

Teppan Sushi & Grill (closed)

Teppan Sushi and Grill is a place that you visit and it was wonderful. It is hard to remember what the restaurant was before it was changed to what it is today but it was called Coffee Ice.

The decor is simple and very tasteful - well we liked it!

The staff were helpful and listened to our every need... Well we were a little sceptical because it took them a long time to produce our order...

This was the dish of the year - wow...

The pieces of the cheese were wonderful...

The decoration was spectacular... We would go back just for this dish!!!!

Wang Dim Sum - วัง ติ่ม ซำ

Wang Dim Sum was a place that I visited some time ago because it 'appeared' on the 'My Destination App'. So - let's try it.

The outlet was surprisingly quiet, if it had not been on the App I would not have ventured inside! There was so much to choose from and I was swiftly happy that it was not a busy restaurant - I did not have to choose everything at a pace!

Choosing was the hardest part - there was so much of it! But I chose enough - sitting down I ordered my Chinese Iced Tea - very sweet but after a busy morning I was more than happy with it!

After choosing everything from the fridges all the selections went into the bamboo (are they still made of bamboo?) steamers.

The selection came out all together - steaming.

I would love to tell you what I ate but I really don't have a clue - I just took what looked good - is there a Dim Sum App?

But it was all very good - in Phuket Old Town which (after 15 years) is still a favourite of mine.

Job Joob (closed)

Joob Joob is a more popular stop than it shows on this blog - foursquare has the most - each time we go into Central for Zen and other restaurants I like to 'pop in' to Joob Joob.

It is a small place where they create the most wonderful cupcakes - for many occasions - read TripAdvisor for the plethora of different cakes that they have made. When I wrote this post Joob Joob was #1of44 Coffee + Tea in Phuket Town.

Joob Joob is essentially a small self contained kitchen where the cupcakes are created and then displayed and adjacent to this is the wonderful Illy Coffee.

Wonderful for a place to pop in.
