So much has been written about Street Noodles.

I have to add that I do not know at times what I have eaten. 

There are pros and cons with everything and yes as I watch the health and safety precautions I would say that at times it might not be a good idea?

Street Food in Bangkok is everywhere and it would be criminal if you did not try some whilst you were in Bangkok - found a guide recently - off tourist radar street food spots in Bangkok. Found an App for Street food in Bangkok as well.

In reality street food is everywhere BUT be careful on a Monday as this is the street cleaning day so they are not always set up on the street.

But sometimes I am not so sure.

The colors are too much like a child's painting sometimes.

There is always a lot of fruit around to choose from.

But this one is wonderful - with the sugar and chili mix to have with it - this is custard apple (I think).

Wat Dit Hongsaram - Street Food

After visiting Wat Dit Hongsaram I was in need of a bite to eat. 

So I looked for the closest place and it was a street stall in front of the Temple.

I don't know if there is much to tell the food stalls apart but it is always spicy and not expensive.

I have to admit to simply pointing at what I wanted and then asking for some 'nam'. It was all very nice, thank you.

Street Food - fruit

Fuit is something that I am guilty of not eating enough of.

So imagine my pleasure when there is a local guy standing at the side of the road ready for me to chop up fresh pineapple for you.

Every day and here he is with the coffee man...

Cha Jada

I know very little about this chain of food sellers Cha Dada - apart from there are a number of them scattered throughout Phuket and their Cha Yen (Iced Tea) was glorious.

This was the lovely lady who made me my drink.

As I sat and watched the traffic drive by I felt that it was an ideal place for a pit stop.

Here are mixers for the drinks.

Looking at what is in front of me I would have to say I have no idea what these are.

ร้านอาหารเช้าอิสลาม - Borae

ร้านอาหารเช้าอิสลาม (Borae)  is very close to where I live and it is where I must pick ups the bus in the morning. So this means that I have seen a lot and had a lot here. I believe that it was once called Sala Deang?

There are 4 places in a very close vicinity where you can purchase food from and neither one sees to worry about the other.

1) The Patongkoh - deep fried dough balls - delicious for a munch. 

2) Beef Strips - freshly made.

3) Fried chicken - a favourite of my daughter's. There is a lot more here which you may find of interest 
- the Hor Mok is always popular.

4) A seated selection of dishes and the wonderful Cha Yen - iced tea.

Street Foods - Sea Cicadas (Chakachan Talay)

The Sea Cicadas are not always found and I believe them to be a seasonal dish but I am not sure.

The deep fried sea cicadas are usually found on the West coast of Phuket - these were found adjacent to Maikhao beach. Here is some more information about the sea cicadas on that beach.

So what did they taste like apart from a little crunchy?
That would probably be the best description...
Try some if you are visiting Phuket.

Abdul's roti and more

Abdul is a local restaurant and it serves predominantly the local music community and as Phuket is actually 30% Muslim there are a number of these small restaurants. Thalang Road as a wonderful mixture of the different communities and this is why every time I visit Phuket Old Town there is something else to find.

At the front there is usually someone preparing food - rolls of prepared dough are all ready.

One by one they are rolled and pushed repeatedly. Then when they are ready they are spun into enormous discs - very clever...

Then the favourite of mine - the Roti - folded egg mixture, condensed milk added then the slices of banana added and cooked for a little more - my daughter's favourite.

Then there is the chicken masaman curry - tasty and certainly popular with the local community.

This curry is served with a savoury roti though - called 'apong'.

I love to go to watch the show that is put on for the passerby - certainly a place to visit if you are in Phuket Town. Here are photographs of my friend Jamie's visit.

เยาว์เย็นตาโฟ 2 was a place which we chose to go to because it was so convenient.

If you are looking for the authentic noodles then this is definitely the place for you to go. I did not see a menu at all - there was some Thai writing on the board though... The noodles were wonderful though.

I only got a small amount of the chilli for the soup.

Mixed into the broth and it was wonderful...

I did not need any of the usual extras that I usually put on my noodles.

Then I saw there was some crispy chicken to add to my Tom Yam noodles - magnificent collection of foods. 

We have been again and I would highly recommend coming here...
